Why is it hard to insure a mobile home in Florida?

Insurers price Florida mobile homes mainly on wind exposure. Year built, HUD wind zone, anchoring, roof and setup decide whether a home qualifies and on what terms. Older or poorly documented homes get fewer offers, so good photos and paperwork usually widen your options with a licensed agency.

What is the difference between a mobile home and a manufactured home?

In everyday use they mean the same thing. Technically, homes factory-built after June 15, 1976 to the federal HUD code are manufactured homes, and earlier ones are mobile homes. Insurers ask for the year because it tells them which construction standard the home was built to.

Florida mobile home insurance questions, answered

Can you insure a mobile home built before 1994?

Yes. Nymble Insurance places pre-1994 and pre-HUD (before June 15, 1976) mobile homes. Expect questions about the roof, anchoring and updates; approval and price depend on underwriting.

Is mobile home insurance required in Florida?

State law doesn't require it for an owned home, but lenders and many parks do. Check your loan papers and park rules.

Does mobile home insurance cover hurricanes?

Many policies include windstorm with a separate hurricane deductible; some homes need wind written separately. Flood is never included.

What do I need for a quote?

Year, make, size, park or owned land, anchoring, roof type and year, use, and claims history. The HUD data plate helps on older homes.
